Dead Hensons at the Independent

Sunday night the opening band for Hurra Torpedo (post coming next) was The Dead Hensons, who seemingly specialize in everything muppet related.

Unfortunately I forgot my camera that night but Ill try and find some pics.

I missed the Hensons opening song, which was that crazy “Pinball” song that has the funky animation, you know the one: “one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve”. My favorite was their cover of the muppets ma-num-a-na song which was bizarrely surreal to realize that I not only remembered this song, but that everyone there did too. The original here is still great:

My second favorite was the “lowercase n” which plays like a ballad with the surreal lyrics:

In an old and far off place there was a lower case n
Lonely and cold he would stare off into space
and he was known to cry now and then
Lower case n, standing on the hill
the wind is very still for the lower case n
Then one day, a rocketship came racing from the sky
It landed on the hill and it opened up a door and something started coming outside
Lower case n - he’s not lonely anymore
Standing on the hill - there are 2 that stand for sure
The wind is very still for the lower case n

And this of course is from Sesame Street! Sounds like a progressive rock introduction.
