“This is Really Happening” - Radiohead
The lyric floats though my head as I can scarcely believe that I’m en route to singapore.
The plan to pack up everything pretty much went according to plan, but with immense help from my parents and a few friends. It’s a pretty amazing time to move abroad: I’ll have free video conferencing capability (thanks to my new iSight video cam) as well as free long distance (care of Skype).
I’ll admit that i think flying still has some improvements to go though. Why with every shutter and shake do I think of those scenes from “LOST” or even “Fight Club”. Maybe its just time to ‘sit back and relax and enjoy the inflight entertainment”. Well, unfortunately, this is one of those flights with a fuzzy projection from 20 year old VCR. Worse is that my seat is right in front of it - in a middle seat no less - though the mail concern is the mere 15 inches of leg room for my 5’11” self. Perhaps i should have upgraded to Premium Economy like my friend had suggested. But somehow it seems odd complaining about these minor issues when they have gone bankrupt and the entire airline industry is in chaos. So, of course I’d prefer to arrive in one piece than hurdling into the pacific laughing my ass off watching Seinfeld.
But still - these 14 hours are going to hurt.
