U.N. Estimates Nearly 6,000 Iraqi Civilians Died in 2 Months

A New York Times article headlines that nearly 6,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed in just 2 months.

This is unfortunately just an estimate - and an estimate by the U.N. since the US “does not do body counts” as General Tommy Franks has said. Even more depressing is that this 6,000 is simply a small fraction of the estimated 40,000 civilian deaths estimated by Iraqbodycount.net.

I think its important to understand that as while Sadam certainly was a bad guy, he was nowhere near as efficient a destroyer of life as Iraq is now under US stewardship. This is simply horrible.
