What Killed the Electric Car

If the right wing dudes ever wanted proof that all documentaries are just the voice of the left-wing liberat elite, then it assuredly comes in the form of “What Killed the Electric Car”.

Ill assume it is well-intentioned but it is SEVERELY misguided in its attempt to show blame for why the world did not embrace an electric car. They filmmakers blame everyone from law-makers, to oil-companies, to California Air Safety board without ever really giving the viewer a fair look at if THEY would actually want to have bought it!

Plenty of interviews with normal people being asked “Would you buy an electric car” and their obvious replies of “Yes, of course!”, but no follow up question of “What if it cost $35,000 and only had two seats and went 75 miles/day?”.

This is distorted reality at its worst, always looking for someone to blame - the monster in the evil corrupt world of capitalism…and to be sure there are monsters and evil out there. But its astonishingly clear, that what killed the electric car - in the instance of the EV1 - was that it just wasn’t a good design based on its unready technology.

It is simply incompetent filmmaking that not ONCE in the entire 90 mins do they reveal the price of the EV1. Do you want to end world hunger? Of course you do, but what if it cost $10,000 out of your pay check. Still want to end world hunger?
