The world feels like it is crumbling....

More horrible news today from the middle east with Israel bombing the Beirut airport in their retaliation against Hezbollah. Just as things seemed to be getting better for the “Paris of the Middle East” as Syria withdrew a few months ago, the future looks bad, or at least uncertain.

Add to this Iran.
And North Korea.
And Gaza.
And of course, the horrible mess that Iraq has become.

There are horrible places that genuinely DO need the help of the US like Zimbabwe, but of course they offer nothing of interest to the US so people will continue to die from famine as Mugabe continues to drive that entire country into the ground.

Contrast this to the feeling of the mid to late 90’s when Germany reunited and Vietnam opened up to the world, and Cambodia rid itself of the Khmer Rough, while over the the middle-east peace actually seemed plausible between Arafat and Israel - now that has never seemed farther away.
